We recently spent a few days in Topsail, North Carolina as a family. Going to the beach during the spring is one of my favorite family activities. Even though the temperatures are cooler than that of summer, the view is spectacular and there is something about this fresh spring crispness in the air. I also love packing for the beach in the spring – pairing the coastal grandmother trend with layers can create some fabulous beach outfit combos. Here are some tips on what to wear to the beach when it’s cold.

This is my exact outfit from above, except I chose white denim rather than white shorts. You can layer this turtleneck over your shoulders for an effortlessly breezy look.
This outfit gives off more neutral coastal grandmother vibes, and all of these pieces can be mixed and matched for both spring and fall. I love a cozy turtleneck, and this one is one of my favorites. It pairs so well with this Evereve sunhat – it’s also one of my favorites!
Another neutral outfit – with a little more edge. Brown and black make the perfect pair for the beach. These black denim shorts are sure to be on repeat this spring and summer. They are the PERFECT length. I also can’t recommend these Veja’s enough!
This set is one of my new must-haves. I also have it in the white/cream combo (shown here). It seriously is the perfect beach or resort outfit. Pair it with some easy slides and a matching tote bag to complete the look.
Not only is this next outfit perfect for what to wear to the beach when it’s cold, but it also makes a great travel outfit! It features Lululemon Aligns in one of their newest colors – Java. These go with so many tops, including this cozy white sweater. Grab those Restfeel slides again to complete the look.
Okay, this one might be my favorite. Blame it on this beachy striped sweater. It pairs with white denim, blue denim, or linen pants so perfectly. I also love how great it looks with gold accessories! To add a pop of color, grab these blue cushioned Reef sandals!
