DIY Halloween Costumes with Staple Fall Pieces

Spooky season is here! I love the crispness of the air and all of the fall sweaters and boots combos. Halloween is also on the horizon and I wanted to share some easy DIY Halloween costume options that you could easily put together using pieces in your closet that you’ll use over and over again. Each of these round-ups includes a staple item that you’ll be grabbing for all fall long!

This black Spanx dress is a bodycon you won’t be able to live without! It’s comfortable, flattering and pairs well with a blazer. It’s the perfect workwear dress and paired with a good pair of black heels and some Audrey Hepburn accessories from Amazon, it makes for the perfect Hollywood look. Throw your hair in an updo for that extra effortless look. “

Pirate Costume Inspo

Another easy DIY Halloween costume idea: pirate! This striped tee is an essential staple for fall and winter. I especially love adding basics like this one under a puffer vest! I’m sharing it with these Spanx Perfect Pants – which if you don’t have in your workwear rotation, you need ASAP! They are comfortable enough to wear all work day then out and about for candy escapades all night long! Grab some staple winter boots like these and this pirate accessories kit (under $15) for a look that’s good enough to walk the plank in!

Rosie the Riveter Costume Inspo

If you’re looking for easy and inspirational this Halloween, you can’t go wrong with Rosie the Riveter! This look includes pieces you are sure to use again this fall! You absolutely can’t go wrong with a classic denim shirt. Paired with your favorite jeans (I love these PAIGE jeans for year-round) and a classic red heel (these are comfy and affordable!). Finally, don’t forget the famous bandana and your favorite red lip!

Witch Costume Inspo

It wouldn’t be an easy DIY Halloween costume round-up without your classic witch look! Effortless, flattering, and fun – this look is sure to win the hearts of warlocks all Halloween long! First, grab this off-the-shoulder bodysuit (it’s under $25!) and a tulle maxi skirt. Both of these can be mixed and matched with so many different fall outfit options. Next, these tie-up black heels are flirty and fun – perfect for workwear or weddings this season! Lastly, finish the look with a chic witch hat and lightweight broom – both from Amazon!

Cat Costume Inspo

Be the cat’s meow this Halloween with this kitty suit! Starting with this faux leather bodysuit – it’s under $40 and would look great under a blazer this fall! Pair it with some Spanx faux leather leggings (a must-have for me in the fall). You will love these! Next, any black shoes will do – these shiny black pumps can help complete the look in a fun way! Lastly, you’ll need to grab this cat ears set – it’s under $10 on Amazon!

Beth + Rip Dutton Costume Inspo

Looking for an easy couple’s costume? Do not fear! I’m here to help you. If you aren’t a loyal Yellowstone viewer, what are you even watching this fall? Okay, but in all seriousness. I love Beth and Rip Dutton, and couldn’t pass up the opportunity to create a DIY costume.

For Beth, all you need is a long dress – this one is from Free People and absolutely gorgeous for fall – and some solid western boots! Finish the look with turquoise earrings, a cowboy hat, and her signature smudged eyeliner. For Rip, your partner can use any pair of jeans in their closet, a heavy black jacket, some cowboy boots, this belt buckle (only $12), and a cowboy hat!

Maleficent Costume Inspo

My last look in this DIY Halloween costume round-up is Maleficient! This one has extra flair for a stand-out look this candy-collecting season. The sweater dress I included is one of my favorites in the fall and winter. It’s comfortable, warm, and flexible. Perfect for everyday wear! To make the Maleficient look happen, I added my favorite black tights and a pair of stirrup heeled boots. Next: for the flair! This feather shrug is under $30 and will pair excellently with the Maleficient horns and cane. This look is magically spooky!
